ITINERARY
Day 1 Welcome to Skiing in Canada
Take in views of the Pacific and the Coast Mountain Range as your motor coach transfer negotiates the Sea to Sky highway from Vancouver to Whistler. Whistler is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics and highway improvements ensure a fast and safe journey.
Whistler regularly tops reader polls as the most popular ski resort in North America and why is instantly apparent on arrival. Whistler Blackcomb offers twin peaks with outstanding terrain and a fast lift system.
Our Canada vacation packages to Whistler offer the best ski accommodations with cozy rooms and extensive facilities. Choose from ski-in/ski-out hotels offering the minimum distance to the lifts and slopes or hotels in Whistler village central to bars and restaurants.
By providing your details Fresh Tracks can have your ski or snowboard gear prepared for you at the rental shop. Equipment can be exchanged from day to day so you can use downhill skies for cruising on-mountain trials and then swap to powder skis for your backcountry expeditions.
Day 2 – Explore Whistler on your Canada Vacation
The Fresh Tracks early bird breakfast at Whistler Roundhouse is a filling buffet followed by early access to the slopes - before the crowds.
Whistler Blackcomb features more than 200 trails, 3 glaciers and 12 alpine bowls spread across over 8000 acres and serviced by 37 lifts. This years addition of the Peak to Peak gondola is the highest and widest in the world, linking the two mountains with an 11 minute journey.
Day 3 – Backcountry Skiing
Today’s adventure into the backcountry surrounding Whistler Blackcomb promises to be a memorable one. Whistler Alpine Guides will take you to Garibaldi Park for a day skiing some of the best powder in the area.
A professional guide provides a thorough briefing on backcountry safety and you practice using the equipment provided before setting out for some of the most memorable runs of your vacation. Individual attention is guaranteed by the small group size.
Day 4 – Whistler
Today on your Canada ski vacation would be a great day to take advantage of the Peak to Peak gondola. Wait for one of the glass bottomed gondolas for the best viewing; these silver cabins have a fenced glass bottom to view the Fitzsimmons Creek over 1000 ft below.
Whistler and Blackcomb have eleven restaurants on the mountains to choose from. The Crystal Hut is a cozy cabin to warm up in and replenish your energy with a Belgian Waffle freshly made right before your eyes. The filling toasted subs and hearty soups at Raven’s nest are a great source of fuel if you can’t wait to get back on the slopes. Satisfying a appetite built up on the slopes is all part of skiing in Canada!
Day 5 – Cat skiing & Fondue on your Canada Vacation
Cat skiing provides access to untouched powder usually available only to Heli-skiers, but at a fraction of the cost.
Cat skiing takes you into the Backcountry away from lift lines and crowds in the comfort of a heated cabin carried by a snow cat - the best powder skiing in Whistler. The snow cats operate in all conditions and are able to access the runs even when snow is falling hard. Two certified guides are there to make sure you have one of the best days on the mountain.
This evening a Fondue meal is booked at the Bavaria Restaurant including a traditional Swiss cheese fondue with crisp vegetables and fresh bread followed by a Belgian chocolate fondue with fruits and pastries.
Day 6 – Depart with Fond Memories
As your Whistler ski package ends leave the alpine air and sights of Whistler behind. The Sea to Sky highway winds its way to the airport for your flight home.
