Are you ready for heli- skiing? Have you been an avid skier for many years? Would you consider yourself a strong intermediate skier? Are you able to keep control in many types of terrain? Do you have an adventurous and determined attitude? Then you may be ready to try heli-skiing. Canadian Mountain Holidays is one of Canada’s most established and reputable adventure travel companies. Small groups with two specially trained guides ensure that you get the attention and instruction you need. With the help of CMH, you will be carving powder in no time!

Day 1 –Arrive in Calgary/Travel to Lodge

Arrive in Calgary today to start your Canadian Heli-skiing adventure! Travel several hours of extraordinary mountain scenery on your comfortable charter bus. When you arrive at the lodge, you are welcomed by the friendly staff. It’s hard to not already be impressed with the outstanding service as you are shown around the lodge and to your room. The warm inviting rooms feel like home already.

Choose between from five amazing lodges all located in four famous mountain ranges – Selkirks, Purcells, Monashees and Cariboos. Each lodge has a small capacity which lends to an intimate and comfortable stay. All lodge amenities are first class – rooms with spectacular views, cozy bar-lounge area, games room, outdoor whirlpool, sauna and après-ski massage services. These lodges are the picture of rustic luxury!

Once you’ve settled in, there will be a safety and lodge orientation. As it should be, your safety is CMH’s first priority. Fully certified and experienced guides are well trained in risk management, safety briefings and training from these experts will help you work with your guides to ensure your trip is safe and enjoyable to its full extent.

Spend your first evening growing acquainted with the staff and other guests at the lodge. You will go over your experience level and guides will form groups based on compatible skill.

No need to worry about bringing your skis along. CMH provides powder skis and poles. You will have to bring along your own boots. Snowboards can be requested in advance.

Note: We recommend arriving a day before your tour begins. Arriving a day early will ensure you have a nice relaxing evening before your early morning journey to Galena Lodge. Ask us for details.

Days 2 – 6 – Heli-skiing

Your anticipation wakes you this morning; it’s your first day of heli-skiing! Before breakfast, consider participating in the stretching/warm-up program. It is highly recommended and a great way to ensure that you’ll be in your best shape for all 4 days of your skiing adventure!

After a full breakfast and some important avalanche training you’re off to your helicopter! As the blades pick up speed, so does your heart in the excitement of take off. You are in safe hands today; all pilots are specially trained in high alpine flying. Your expert guides choose the best terrain for the group and the day’s conditions.

You have 4 full days to learn the basics of heli-skiing and there is no better place than with CMH. On your trip you will have at least 21,500 metres of skiing. Two expert guides lead your small group into the breathtaking high alpine; a small group size with two guides ensures that you will get the attention and instruction that you need.

Skiing powder will be an experience like no other. Powder skiing is the effortless sensation of gliding unhindered through the powdery softness. You fall waist deep and laugh at the comfort of bailing in powder. Each run is so great you can’t wait for the next. Before you know it, you’ve become a confident and capable off-piste skier.

The sun is approaching the horizon as you make your way back to the lodge. Enjoy a sauna or whirlpool to ease your muscles. Hors d’oeuvres are served while you share your stories of the day’s best runs. Save room for tonight’s first class 3-course dinner!


Day 7 – Depart with Fond Memories

Much too soon, you leave the clean air and spectacular sights of the Rocky Mountains behind. A CMH charter bus returns you to the Calgary International Airport for one final night before your morning flight. Earlier departures from the lodge can be arranged for earlier flights
  • Add a few days to warm up on the famous steep and deep terrain from Banff or head further north and stay at beautiful Lake Louise
  • Take a ski safari - custom built itineraries include cat skiing and some of the Rockies hidden gems

Powder Introduction groups are made up of 10 skiers who work with two specially-trained guides, allowing for lots of practical instruction while skiing, and, if necessary, splitting the group according to ability.
